To effectively elevate the safety culture within the jurisdiction as well as to minimize the occurrence of occupational accidents, the New Taipei City Government has established the Labor Standards Inspection Office on 23rd Sep. 2011.
The New Taipei City Labor Standards Inspection Office was established on 23rd Sep. 2011, with a legal limit of 85 staff members, the office’s foremost duty was the prevention of occupational accidents. Currently, our office has set up a “Manufacturing Industry Division” and a “Construction Industry Division.” At the initial stages of our operation, through methods of advocacy, counseling, and inspection, our office aimed to effectively supervise business entities that have a high risk of accident occurrences in the manufacturing industry and construction industry to implement related safety conducts. Additionally, to effectively execute health promotion in the workplace, a “General Inspection Division” and an “Integrated Division” was established, followed by the formulation of a “Complaint Verification Division” on 2nd Sep. 2016, thereby achieving complete inspection to all industries.
After establishment, our primary goal is to elevate the overall safety culture within the jurisdiction, thereby preventing the occurrence of occupational accidents. Since the Occupational Safety and Health Act mainly applies to small and medium enterprises within our city, therefore most of the promotion of our duties are primarily performed through advocacy and counseling. The goal of such promotion is to increase the workers’ ability of hazard identification, thereby improving the safety and health management measures of the business entity; when necessary, penalties are implemented to urge business entities to properly perform safety and health management measures.
All in all, the safety of every worker is crucial to the happiness of the family he/she is supporting. If all business entities and workers can understand the importance of the safety and health issue, thereby properly performing safety and health measures beforehand, then the goal of “zero occupational accident” can soon be realized.
